Following a 14-year career at Google, where she worked on the IPO deal team, led global product business development, and founded Google for Startups, Mary Grove brought her Silicon Valley experience to Minnesota, moving to Minneapolis in 2018. Today, she’s with Bread & Butter Ventures, which manages more than $80 million in assets under management and has invested in more than 80 companies. The Minneapolis-based early-stage venture capital firm has built a diverse pipeline: Across its first three funds, 53% of portfolio companies include a female founder, and more than 60% reflect “broader diversity.” One colleague remarked, “Mary has a rare ability to combine rigor with generosity; she raises the bar while bringing others along.”
