In 2003, Luisa Fuentes opened her first early childhood center with just one student and has since grown Rayito de Sol to seven schools in Minnesota and Illinois. The learning center provides young children the opportunity to discover cultures, people, places, and traditions in a Spanish-language learning setting. To date, more than 7,000 children have graduated from the program. Rayito endeavors to serve a diverse group of families and children who learn to coexist together and appreciate their different cultural backgrounds. An immigrant from Peru, Fuentes’ leadership has helped the learning center become an award-winning child care provider. She also recently founded the Golden Leaders of the World (GLOW), a nonprofit that propels early childhood education across South America and Hispanic nations.
