Board vice chair, Owámniyomni Okhódayapi

Description

Dana Thompson has spent more than a decade advancing food sovereignty, public wellness, and Indigenous cultural revitalization, today serving as board vice chair for Owámniyomni Okhódayapi. The Dakota-led nonprofit is working to transform five acres of land at Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls), in Minneapolis, into a place of healing and connection for the Dakota, as well as other Native and non-Native people. A proud descendant of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate and Mdewakanton Dakota tribes, Thompson leverages her Indigenous wisdom in her board role. Thompson is also CEO of Heti Products, a botanical beverage company that celebrates native plants, and she co-founded North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems as well as the James Beard Award-winning Owamni, Minnesota’s first full-service Indigenous restaurant.
