Carolyn Sakstrup’s lifelong connection to the YMCA dates back to her first YMCA day camp at age seven, and her appreciation deepened over the years she spent as a camper and staff member at YMCA Camp Menogyn. These experiences led Sakstrup, chief growth and generosity officer at Minneapolis-based Thrivent, to serve on the board of the YMCA of the North since 2018. She is chair and chief volunteer officer as well as a member of the executive committee and the equity, action, and change committee. With a passion that shows up at the organization’s local, national, and global levels, she plays a crucial role in developing strategy and advising management on leadership succession and innovation. A committed mentor of leaders within YMCA, she also gives time and support back to Camp Menogyn.
