As general counsel and head of compliance at Yardstik, Ann Vanga has built the Minneapolis-based employment-screening tech startup’s legal function from the ground up. She helps guide the company through complex regulatory landscapes surrounding national and local background-screening procedures, data protection, and more, and has collaborated with the product team to provide strategic counsel on the design and implementation of product changes responding to market conditions and emerging compliance constraints. Outside of corporate work, Vanga also shapes the future of Minnesota’s legal and business community, having spent nearly a decade coaching law students at Mitchell Hamline in international arbitration competitions.
