Marco Acquires Illinois-Based IT Services Provider ETC ComputerLand
Marco, a St. Cloud-based printer, copier and IT services provider, has purchased IT company ETC ComputerLand in a deal announced Tuesday.
Terms of the transaction for the Quincy, Illinois-based company were not disclosed, but the acquisition marks the latest in an ongoing spree of moves expanding Marco’s presence in the Midwest.
Marco bought Dearborn, Michigan-based copy and print business Governor Business Solutions in March, and then in July purchased Rockford, Illinois-based IT services entity Ticomix.
“This purchase allows us to further expand Marco’s well-established IT service offerings and technical expertise throughout the state of Illinois,” said Jeff Gau, Marco CEO, in prepared remarks. “We welcome ETC ComputerLand’s clients to Marco and look forward to being their technology provider.”
As Gau told the St. Cloud Times in March, acquisitions are engrained in the company’s growth strategy. Marco performs between five to seven annually, and Gau credits those deals to half of the company’s year-over-year 20 percent growth rate.
In the wake of this new ETC ComputerLand acquisition, Quincy joins a list of 54 total Marco locations nationwide, which collectively serve more than 32,000 customers. Additionally, many of ETC ComputerLand’s staff will remain in the Quincy office and join Marco’s network of 1,200 employees.
From Illinois, ETC ComputerLand owners Eric and Kathryn Thomas will continue to operate ComputerLand’s marketing and programming services, which it refers to as its Media Development and Vervocity Interactive branches.
In a statement about the Marco deal, Eric Thomas praised Marco and expressed gratitude for ComputerLand’s long-time customers and employees to date.
“Thank you to our clients for the honor of allowing us to serve you and putting your trust in us,” said Thomas. “[And] we want to thank our caring and amazing staff for the many years of dedication to our clients.”
