Founded in 1891, YWCA Minneapolis has a long and proud history focused on eliminating racism and empowering women through programs that bring the community together. We stand for a fully inclusive community where racial justice, gender equality and human dignity are promoted through bold and effective women's leadership.
YWCA Minneapolis equips more than 30,000 people annually to create brighter futures for themselves, their families and their community.
In 2015:
- 1435 youth engaged in research-based afterschool programs
- 964 children received high-quality, nationally-credited early childhood education
- 1,550+ advocates raised awareness about policy solutions to improve equity and access to early childhood education and afterschool programs

Annually, more than 1,200 women participate in a race dedicated to celebrating the strength in all women.

The generosity of individuals, companies, and organizations helps fund research-based culturally celebratory, anti-bias Early Childhood Education and out-of-school-time programs, making YWCA one of the largest nonprofit providers of early learning and youth programs in Minneapolis.
