About Us
Founded in 1891, YWCA Minneapolis has a long and proud history focused on eliminating racism and empowering women through programs that bring the community together. We stand for a fully inclusive community where racial justice, gender equality and human dignity are promoted through bold and effective women's leadership.
YWCA Minneapolis equips more than 30,000 people annually to create brighter futures for themselves, their families and their community.
In 2015:

  • 1435 youth engaged in research-based afterschool programs
  • 964 children received high-quality, nationally-credited early childhood education
  • 1,550+ advocates raised awareness about policy solutions to improve equity and access to early childhood education and afterschool programs

Through award-winning programs, classes, and workshops, we serve the people in our community.
We strive to achieve:
    •    Race and gender equity
    •    Economic independence for women
    •    Respect for diverse cultures
    •    A place where children and youth thrive
    •    A community that is vibrant and healthy
