Bring TIM
A gift idea for anyone regularly subjected to long, boring, pointless meetings, Bring TIM is a meeting cost calculator that converts all of those wasted seconds into wasted dollars. Before the start of the meeting, enter the number of people attending and an approximate hourly wage. Hit the start button and watch the dollars add up as the meeting drags on. Bring TIM (which stands for Time Is Money) also doubles as a desk clock—that is, when it’s not stuck in long, boring, pointless meetings.
Klipsch LightSpeakers
Here’s a bright idea for piping music to all corners of the office: the Klipsch LightSpeaker, an overhead LED light bulb with a built-in wireless speaker. The product picked up an Innovations Award at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. Simply screw in the light bulbs and then plug the transmitter into a music player, such as a laptop, iPod, or CD player. The 20-watt bulbs, which are rated for 40,000 hours of use and can last up to 15 years, fit 5- and 6-inch recessed light fixtures. The company is developing accessories to fit them into hanging lights and floor and table lamps. PCMag.com notes that the system is clever, but expensive: A pair of bulbs and the transmitter sell for $599.
