Our Mission is to enrich the mind and nourish the spirit, thereby enhancing the lives and expanding the perspectives of our audiences, and assisting them in strengthening their communities.
Since Minnesota Public Radio launched in 1967 at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, the support of generous listeners, friends and partner institutions has enabled us to inform, inspire, entertain and energize audiences across Minnesota and the globe.
Throughout 2017 and all over the state, we’re celebrating 50 years of bringing audiences distinctive and relevant on-air, online and live programming through our regional services—MPR News, Classical MPR and The Current—and our national American Public Media portfolio of programs, including Marketplace, The Splendid Table, A Prairie Home Companion, the BBC World Service and more. This year, we’ve joined our greater Minnesota listeners for memorable MPR Days, broadcasting all three services live from Collegeville, Mankato, Ely and Moorhead.
We’re also introducing audiences to new and award-winning podcasts like Brains On!, our nationally recognized science podcast for kids and curious adults; In the Dark from APM Reports; The Hilarious World of Depression; 74 Seconds from MPR News; Historically Black; Terrible, Thanks for Asking; and Make Me Smart, from Marketplace.
As we look ahead to the next 50 years, MPR | APM is committed to serving more people in our changing communities with programming that’s relevant to them: editorially independent journalism, innovative arts and cultural programming, national and international reporting, and music discovery that can’t be found anywhere else.
