A gala fundraiser with a Latin American theme—Noche Para Los Niños or Night for the Children—needed bright colors and accents. Colorful flowers, including fuschia hydrangeas, Sunset dahlias, orange roses, purple lisianthus, mini calla lillies, and multiple shades of orchids enlivened three event spaces that conjured up images of a Latin American village.
When guests arrived, they entered the “plaza,” lined with building facades. Tropical trees in the space were hung with garlands of fresh flowers. Next, guests moved into the “Mercado,” made to look like an open-air market. Women were given small nosegays from umbrella-covered carts where designers were creating bouquets all evening. The silent-auction tables featured traditional tissue-paper flowers, and painted chairs held “seats” of fresh flowers.
The third space included another building façade and was strung with lights to evoke an open-air café. A stage boasted more tropical trees and a podium layered with a fresh floral garland. Bright table linens and tropical centerpieces were lit with candelight. Guests finished the evening dancing to a Cuban jazz orchestra.
