Held at the new Target Field while it was still under construction, the Make a Wish Foundation’s 2010 black-tie gala incorporated a vintage sports theme called “Take Me Out to the Wish Ball.” Planners chose a sophisticated rich red and smoky blue palette for décor colors and used wheatgrass in the centerpieces and other displays, inspired by the ballfield turf. The silent-auction table linens boasted baseball pennants, and the signage included graphics that mimicked vintage baseball cards. Because of the venue’s strict security, the planners had to closely control the movement of volunteers and guests. The event’s goals were met when it sold out a month in advance, and the fundraising exceeded expectations.
