For 20 years, The Collaborative’s CEO and co-founder,
Dan Carr, has developed
publications and events designed to bring together entrepreneurs, providers of
finance, and sources of business-building expertise. In October 2007, The
Collaborative’s 21st Annual Minnesota Venture Finance Conference
attracted more than 475 attendees; throughout the year more than 3,000 CEOs,
investors, managers and executives have attended the its 13 programs—designed,
Carr says, “to build Minnesota’s innovation economy.”

Career History: President, CEO and co-founder since 1987 of The Collaborative, a membership organization with the mission of helping to build Minnesota companies. What was started as a subscription-based publication, New Venture Review, has evolved into a multi-activity organization helping to expand Minnesota’s innovation economy. Through events and publications for entrepreneurs and investors, The Collaborative is able to generate an environment where entrepreneurs, financiers, and providers of business expertise are able to interact. Carr previously worked as a CPA for ASARCO, Inc. in New York and Ernst and Young in Minneapolis. He also writes occasionally on entrepreneurship, innovation and the Minnesota economy.
Awards: Past recipient of the Tekne Award for Technology Leadership and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Supporter of Entrepreneurship.
