Weldon Spangler is adding another franchise business to his resume.
On Thursday, Chanhassen-based Snap Fitness announced Spangler as CEO of parent company Lift Brands.
Before joining the fitness franchise, Spangler served as president and CEO of Vancouver, Wash.-based Papa Murphy’s. In a news release, Snap officials credit Spangler with driving a “system-wide turnaround by rebuilding relationships with franchise owners and partners.”
Spangler also spent seven years with Dunkin’ Brands Group, where he served as senior VP and general manager of Baskin Robbins. Prior to that, Spangler served as VP of Starbucks Japan.
“Whether you’re working in quick service restaurant franchising or in fitness franchising, building strong alignment between the franchisor and local owners and their teams is the key to generating long-term success and value creation,” Spangler said in the release.
Spangler’s first day on the job was Sept. 16.
Lift Brands currently counts more than 1,300 franchisees in total. The company also has established gyms in more than 26 countries.
Peter Taunton, Lift Brands' prior CEO, stepped down from his position earlier this year.
