Best Buy CEO Corie Barry will be the featured speaker at TCB Talks: Women in Leadership, one of Twin Cities Business’s largest annual events, to be held April 23 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center.
As she approaches her first anniversary as CEO, the event will offer an exclusive opportunity to hear from Barry what it’s like to lead a Fortune 100 company, as well as her goals, and her insights about why Best Buy has been so successful at promoting women to top executive and board roles when so many large companies continue to lag behind. Six of the 11 members on Best Buy’s board of directors are women.
Barry is one of just eight female Fortune 100 CEOs, and the youngest woman at 44.
Barry previously appeared on stage at TCB’s Women in Leadership event in 2016, when she was Best Buy’s chief strategic growth officer. She returns as CEO, having stepped into the top spot in June. A 21-year veteran of Best Buy, she became CFO in 2016 and played a key role in the company’s recent turnaround and 2020 growth strategy.
At the company’s September investors meeting, Best Buy set a goal of reaching $50 billion in revenue by the fiscal year 2025. Barry also said the company would cut $1 billion in costs over the next five years.
