Between lunges and squats, the founder of Get Healthy U is tethered to her rose gold laptop. But even at the office, she's in motion.

Before most of us have even opened an eye or thought about turning on the coffee maker, Chris Freytag is at Life Time in Plymouth, leading a packed 5:30 a.m. class through squats and crunches. A national authority on health and wellness, Freytag founded Get Healthy U and Get Healthy U TV to make fitness accessible and affordable. From the gym to social media to her online workout videos, she seems to be in constant motion—demonstrating exercises you can do without equipment, sharing healthy meal ideas, encouraging her nearly 400,000 combined followers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to live a healthy live—starting with optimism. But when she’s not in the gym, Freytag is cranking out daily content for her website, planning and shooting workout videos, and managing her social media with the help of two full-time and four part-time staffers. At some point, she must sit down. Right? 

“I try to stand half the work day—it makes such a difference on my back,” Fretag says. “I do stretch though through the day: touch my toes; seated twists; overhead arm reaches.” Even at the office, she’s in on the move.

Freytag recently moved her team to the Minneapolis co-working community ModernWell. Here’s a look at what’s on the mobile desk of the fitness guru.

Laptop: My lifeline—my rose gold MacBook comes with me everywhere.
iPhone: Rose gold, of course. Social media is a big part of our business.
Reading glasses: How did I get so old? 
Lipstick: Mac Viva Glam 5.
Drinks: GTs Synergy Guava Goddess Kombucha  is my favorite. I also drink water throughout the day—32 ounces in the morning with my workout and at least another 32 ounces throughout the day. 
Notebook: I have to write it down if I’m going to remember it!
Weights: Okay, I don’t always have weights on my desk, but I do always keep equipment near by—it’s our life! 



What’s a typical work day for you? I start my day with a cup of coffee and a banana. I work out in the early morning – I coach one or two fitness classes (5:30am anyone?), followed by a shower, breakfast and often working at my kitchen Island for a few hours to start the day. 

Then I head over to ModernWell co-working space where my team and I spend 4-plus hours a day together. No specific seats—we sit on couches, comfy chairs or stand at high top tables.  We change it up every day.  The atmosphere is serene; the energy is positive, and the women who work there are inspiring.  I am a huge fan of co-working spaces—more productive than a coffee shop for us! We do have a studio in Wayzata where we film our online workouts. On any given day we are on our computers or shooting workouts and filming social media clips.

Private office or open work space?  Open. I’m an extrovert–I need to be with other people!

How much work do you do at your desk? LOTS – standing or sitting.  Our business is digital which means I’m on the computer all day. 

Can you work at a messy desk? Yes- I like to call it “organized chaos”.  It’s a little organized but not a lot.  I’m type A with a little bit of messy.
