Minnesota media company TECHdotMN has been acquired by private equity firm SureSwift Capital. The deal was an all-cash transaction, effective Monday, but financial terms were not disclosed.
Although SureSwift Capital is a Minneapolis-based company, and has already acquired 32 different technology businesses, TechdotMN will be the first Minnesota-based business in the firm’s portfolio.
“Though we are a ‘remote first’ company, Minnesota is my home, and I am a huge supporter and evangelist for the technology and startup community here,” says Kevin McArdle, co-founder and CEO of SureSwift. “In TechdotMN, we see a great opportunity to operate a successful business and to have a platform to pour more support into this amazing community.”
TechDotMN is a tech news service that focuses on startup culture. It was formed in 2009 and launched in 2010 by Jeff Pesek and Mike Bollinger, who left the company last year.
“I appreciate the opportunity to be of service in Minnesota’s technology community over the past decade,” says Pesek. “Meeting, interacting, and learning from so many incredible people has been a pleasure. TECHdotMN has been a very rewarding chapter of my life and I am grateful for that.”
SureSwift Capital will be taking over full editorial leadership of the publication. However, Pesek will remain involved on an ad hoc basis.
