Law Firm Creates Free Guide To Data Security For Businesses
Minneapolis-based law firm Gray Plant Mooty has once again partnered with the state to create a free guide for Minnesota businesses, this time regarding privacy and data security-related laws.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has joined forces with Gray Plant Mooty on two other occasions to create legal guides to help local businesses. It created a guide for social media in the workplace, which can be seen here, and a guide for technology transactions, which can be seen here.

DEED has also partnered with Minneapolis-based law firms Lindquist & Vennum and Merchant & Gould, among others, for other business guides.

The most recent guide covers federal privacy and data security laws, Minnesota privacy laws, privacy in the workplace, and global privacy and data security laws.

DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben described the effort as the first-ever attempt to compile Minnesota state data privacy and security laws, as well as federal and global privacy laws, in one publication.

“This book will help a business more easily navigate the complex and unpredictable legal landscape of privacy and data security laws and regulations, be prepared for a data breach, and better understand how such laws may impact their specific business,” Michael Cohen, a principal at Gray Plant Mooty, said in a statement.
