Tech-Consulting Firm Opens Mpls Office, Plans 50 New Jobs

Slalom Consulting, which operates 11 offices nationwide, recently expanded to bring its tech-consulting services to Minneapolis.

Slalom Consulting, LLC—a technology-consulting firm whose services include information management and analytics, sales and marketing, and cloud strategy—recently expanded to Minneapolis.

The Seattle-based firm appointed Rich Coughlin as general manager for the Minneapolis branch. A resident of Minnesota, he most recently served as the managing director and partner of Accenture—a management consulting and outsource services firm—in Minneapolis.

“We are very fortunate to have Rich on our team,” John Tobin, co-founder and president of Slalom’s North America division, said in a statement. “We knew Minneapolis was where we wanted to be next, and we’re glad we found a leader with the right skills and the right fit for our amazing culture as we continue on our path of 30 percent revenue growth year-over-year.”

Coughlin told Twin Cities Business that Slalom’s Minneapolis branch will continue the operations of its other U.S. locations—including technology and business consulting across several different industries—with the potential to add services unique to Twin Cities clients’ needs.

Slalom is leasing Class A office space in Minneapolis, Coughlin said. The firm plans to hire 50 full-time, locally-based employees within the first year for its Minneapolis operation, and it may add as many as 300 local employees within the first five years. Coughlin said employees will serve as consultants for clients within the local technology market.

In addition to its Seattle and Minneapolis offices, Slalom currently operates in Atlanta; Boston; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Hartford, Connecticut; New York; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco; and Manhattan Beach, California. Coughlin said the firm plans to open offices in Phoenix and Houston by early 2014.

Founded in 2001, Slalom employs approximately 2,200 consultants. In addition to its in-house services, the firm has formed service partnerships with companies including Microsoft, Salesforce.com, Amazon Web Services, and Apple, Inc.
