Deck the Halls Flash Mob Comes to U's Carlson School

A lone saxophonist playing a traditional version of "Deck the Halls" was slowly joined by individual singers, who first sang the traditional version of the song and then broke out in choreographed dance moves to a jazzed-up version.

Amid learning about business principles and dreaming up entrepreneurial ventures, students in the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management were greeted with holiday cheer last month in the form of a surprise musical visit.

Nearly 300 students from the U of M's School of Music formed a flash mob in the Carlson School building on November 7. A lone saxophonist playing a traditional version of "Deck the Halls" on an otherwise quiet day was slowly joined by individual singers, including some from several campus choral groups.

After the song ended, the singers broke out in choreographed dance moves to a jazzed-up version of the song.

A video of the flash mob, which includes an appearance by U of M mascot Goldy Gopher and which garnered applause from onlookers, was released Thursday.
